Oxford Interviews

Given the very strong competition to study psychology at Oxford it is not possible to invite all candidates for an interview. The decision to interview takes into account all aspects of the UCAS application.

Short-listed Experimental Psychology (C830), Psychology & Philosophy (CV85), Psychology & Linguistic (CQ81) and Philosophy & Linguistic (QV15) applicants will be invited to Oxford by their 'college of preference' about two weeks prior to the interviews.

Interviews will take place week commencing Monday 10th December 2012.  Please expect to stay at the college until at least Wednesday of that week.

Applicants will be interviewed at two separate colleges e.g. their "college of preference" and a second college which is allocated by the department.  This is to ensure that we have two independent interview assessments of every candidate we have interviewed.

In the interviews we are only interested in trying to judge how the candidates will cope with the academic course and our tutors will be looking for the following qualities at the interview:

  • Clarity of analysis and presentation ideas
  • Ability to generate own ideas and proposals
  • Ability to listen and respond to ideas put forward during discussion and to draw inferences from them
  • Ability to put forward coherent and well thought out proposals and responses

You will be notified of the outcome of your interview by your "college of preference" . Any questions regarding your interview and the outcome should be addressed, in the first instance, by the college.
