Nuffield Early Language Programme

The Nuffield Language4Reading (L4R) Project 2009 – 2012 was funded by the Nuffield Foundation http://www.nuffieldfoundation.org/nuffield-early-language-intervention. It showed that identifying oral language weaknesses in preschool children, and providing oral language intervention in nursery helps children at risk of literacy difficulties respond to reading instruction. Following the research project, the intervention programme has been developed into a licensed intervention programme, the Nuffield Early Language Intervention. For information about purchasing the Nuffield Early Language Intervention and receiving training, please contact Denise Cripps (St John's College, University of Oxford).

Our current project, led by Professor Charles Hulme, is a field trial evaluating the efficacy of the published programme

REACH

This is an RCT of two evidence based interventions to improve the reading skills of pupils following transition into secondary school, funded by Education Endowment Foundation. This is a field trial based on our successful trial to improve reading comprehension.
