Prof Kate Watkins

The Brain, Speech, & Language Group

We are interested in the neural basis of speech and language.  We use brain imaging and brain stimulation to study speech perception and production and to explore differences in the structure and function of the brain associated with differences in the way speech and language develops for example in stammering and in developmental language disorder.

We are not currently recruiting people who stammer for new studies.  If you are interested in volunteering for future studies or would like to learn more, please contact us here. To find out more about our previous work with people who stutter please see here.

We have completed our recruitment of children aged 10-15 with a range of language abilities including those who would qualify for a diagnosis of developmental language disorder.  Thank you to all the children and their families who helped with this study.  Watch this space while we analyse your data!
