BEACON seminar - Marcel van Gerven - "AI meets Neuroscience"
Tuesday, 22 January 2019, 1pm to 2pm
Title:
AI meets neuroscience
Abstract:
In the last couple of years we have witnessed how both artificial intelligence (AI) and neuroscience have made significant progress. Fueled by advances such as deep learning, AI has made its way into real-world applications. Driven by neurotechnological breakthroughs, neuroscientists are equipped with new techniques to probe the brain. In this talk, I will show how by combining AI and neuroscience exciting new research directions emerge. I will demonstrate this by means of a number of research examples developed by my group (www.artcogsys.com). I will pay particular attention to the development of AI techniques that facilitate a better understanding of human brain function and provide new approaches for interfacing between humans and machines.
