Oxford online CDI tool

The Oxford CDI is a list of words that are typical in children's vocabularies. The inventory is a comprehensive "catalogue" of words that are used by many different children across a wide age range, so do not worry if your child knows only a few of them at the moment.

Filling out the Oxford CDI

For words that your child understands place a mark in the first column, labelled "Understood
For words that your child also says place marks in both the first, labelled "Understood", and the second column, labelled "Spoken
