Peace Psychology and Global Challenges

The special issue “Peace Psychology and Global Challenges” exemplifies the breadth and depth of topics, methods, and theoretical approaches applied within peace psychology globally. Stemming from the 2022 symposium of the International Network for Peace Psychology, the issue examines social, environmental, and geopolitical challenges faced by the world toward the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, many of which continue today. Bronfenbrenner's (1979) social ecological model is used to organize the content according to peace examined at the individual, institutional, and societal levels. Issues of local, national, and global concerns are underlined as well as gaps in our current understanding on how to promote sustainable peace. Novel approaches and promising future directions are highlighted. The editors believe the inter-disciplinary approaches, multilevel conceptualization, and global outlook showcased in the special issue can be harnessed to promote sustainable peace, providing reason for hope and optimism.
