Open Science discussion on the lawn at St Hugh's College, EP Away Day 2018

On Wednesday April 18th, EP researchers, graduate students and support staff gathered at St Hugh's College for a day of discussion, learning and reflection about the action-packed year behind us and everything that is still to come.

Prof Charles Vincent speaks at the EP Away Day 2018

Highlights included some timely and interesting discussions of impact, open science and GDPR from Charles Vincent, Clare Mackay and Anne Bowtell, and some very rapid-fire three-minute Pecha Kucha talks from Teaching Lab Manager Dan Walters, PR and Information Officer Anna Caughey, graduate students Davide Folloni and Charlotte Booth, Postdoctoral Research Fellows Tom Marshall and Jennifer Chesters and Principal Investigators Ralf Wölfer and Danielle Shore.

In the afternoon, three breakout groups saw lively discussions on open science and reproducibility on the lawn outside, a thoughtful reflection on departmental culture and our Athena Swan aims in the Maplethorpe Hall, and an inspiring discussion of writing about research for the media in a workshop sponsored by The Conversation, a website hosting the best in news and analysis written by researchers for general audiences.
