This module provides practical training in computer programming for psychologists using MATLAB. The module is intended to provide students with programming skills early on in the course, which can then be used in research projects.

The module will cover various aspects of MATLAB programming such as variables and arrays, data visualisation, scripts and functions, structured programming techniques such as FOR loops and IF statements and their application in psychological research. There will be a single formal (summative) assessment at the end of the module. Students will be asked to submit some MATLAB code that they have written in response to an assignment brief, as well as submitting an accompanying report explaining the code. They will then discuss their solutions in a viva.
