I'm currently a finalist at St. John's College, reading Physiology and Psychology. I was completely deafened by meningitis when I was 19 months old, and only had some of that hearing restored by a cochlear implant at the age of 3.
I am passionate in raising awareness about deafness and what the cochlear implant technology is able to achieve. Thanks to the talents of fellow St. John's students (involved in SJCTV), I was able to produce a documentary about my experiences as a cochlear implantee at Oxford University, which has subsequently gone viral on Youtube.
As a result of this, a television crew from the "See Hear" programme on BBC2 came to film me as part of Deaf Awareness Week. This programme was aired on the 8th May, 2013. I was recently awarded the Vice Chancellor's Civic Award in recognition of my work in promoting deaf awareness.
On completion of my undergraduate studies, I hope to return to Oxford for a Masters in Neuroscience
