Neuroscience Seminar Series: Dr Hugo Spiers (UCL): "Neural Systems for Navigation"
Friday, 09 October 2015, 12.30am to 1.30pm
C113 (Weiskrantz room)
Dr Hugo Spiers is a neuroscientist at UCL Experimental Psychology. He uses human neuroimaging and rodent single unit recording to understand the neural basis of spatial cognition
The brain regions responsible for navigating space have long been known, but understanding how they guide navigation has remained elusive. I will draw on recent findings from my research group to provide a new conceptual model of how the brain navigates space and simulates paths to desired goals never before visited.
