Lowrie Burgess

Research Assistant

I am a research assistant on the Co-SPACE project within the TOPIC group. Co-SPACE tracked parents, children and young people's mental health from March 2020 to July 2021, with the aim of better understanding the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on families' wellbeing and what support they might need.

We are currently working on a series of follow-up surveys that will assess parent, child and adolescents' mental health two years on from the first UK lockdown, as well as at the two-and-a-half and three-year markers. This will give us insight into which groups are 'bouncing back', and who might require more support going forward. We are also working with international collaborators to examine how and why mental health might have differed across countries - particularly between the UK and Japan.

More broadly, my interests lie in child and adolescent psychopathology and neurodevelopmental disorders. I am interested in understanding the neuropharmacological and associative mechanisms that contribute to the development and maintenance of such disorders, and how this can be translated to practical therapeutic approaches.

I graduated with a BA (Oxon) in Experimental Psychology from St Hugh's College in 2021.
