The Medical Research Council UK have funded a proposal to study developmental stuttering using brain stimulation, MRI and MEG scans.  We will carry out a trial to study 30 people who stutter and half of them will undergo brain stimulation alongside training to enhance speech fluency.  We hope that the brain stimulation will make the speech training more effective.  We will also use scanning to study the brains of people who stutter in more detail to determine which parts of the brain function differently and how the timing of brain areas involved in speech production might be altered. The study will start in November 2016.
