Family Recruitment Officer
I recruit families who are interested in taking part in research carried out by the Oxford BabyLab and other research groups in the Oxford Centre for Developmental Science. I spend half my time at the John Radcliffe Hospital talking to newly delivered mothers and telling them about our research. At the BabyLab we are interested in how babies and toddlers develop understanding of language. By tracking their eye movements as they look at carefully selected pictures and listen to words we can detect signs of word understanding at a very early stage.
My early career was in manufacturing and later I spent 15 years in management consultancy and training. More recently I worked for the Thames Valley Strategic Health Authority and as a Research Assistant in the Department of Architecture at Oxford Brookes University. I was awarded my doctorate in February 2012. As a mother of three sons and a Breastfeeding Counsellor I am comfortable in the atmosphere of the post-natal wards and bring personal experience to my role.
