My research is concerned with investigating the connections between early numeracy skills and related cognitive functions in preschool children. This project - 'cognitive and education foundations of preschool maths: (not) as easy as 1, 2,3.' - is funded by the Nuffield Foundation.
I aim to make purposeful links between the early foundations of cognitive and numeracy skills and longer term mathematical success which can be used to identify best practice in nursery provision.
I have 10 years experience in the mainstream Primary and Early Years classroom and have been a senior leader of core subjects and Early Years within schools in Oxfordshire. Therefore I am particularly interested in how research can guide settings in provision improvement and parental guidance, especially in the area of school readiness.
