Finance Manager (Interim)

As Finance Administrator I have primary responsibility for the Department’s financial administration alongside the Departmental Administrator. This includes line management for a team of two Finance Assistants who are responsible for the full range of financial transaction processing carried out within the department. 

My role includes preparing the annual budget (turnover in excess of £9 million) and quarterly forecasts; management reporting; identifying and implementing changes and developments in financial systems, processes and procedures as required; overseeing a range of month-end and year-end processing activity in validating the department's accounts and ensuring they represent a complete and accurate view of the department financial position; develop and oversee cost recovery mechanisms; assist the Departmental Administrator in long-term financial planning, producing business cases, representing the department in financial audit; deputising for the Department Administrator as appropriate .

In addition, I act as secretary to the Departmental Resources Committee which oversees the financial management and strategy of the department; and work closely with the Research Grants and Contracts Manager in managing the departments’ post-award grants portfolio and ensuring all work is carried out according to University processes and grantors’ terms and conditions.

I began working for the University in 2015 as a Divisional Finance Manager for the Medical Sciences Divisional Office where I am on secondment from.  I am CIMA qualified since 2010.
