Graduate Research Assistant

Graduate Research Assistant for The Leverhulme Trust Oxford Children's Corpus: Lessons for learning to Read Project

My interests lie in the development of literacy in children and in developmental disorders. How do children make the transition from novice readers, where decoding is slow and effortful, to skilled readers, where text is swiftly and easily decoded and understood? My work on the Lessons for Learning to Read Project involves assisting with the analysis of Oxford Children's Corpus database of texts written for and by children and working with children in schools to investigate how children encounter and learn new words.
