Short Description

My research focuses on studying Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in a cross-cultural context. I am investigating cultural influences on factors that might predict the development and maintenance of PTSD and other psychological disorders in the aftermath of traumas and extremely stressful events.

Furthermore, I am devising an experimental approach to model and explore the cognitive mechanisms (such as cultural differences in appraisal and memory) that are involved in the onset, severity and treatment of these disorders. All of these will enhance the applicability of the existing trauma-focused treatments to non-Western countries.
