In my role as HR Manager I work closely with both the Personnel & Administration Manager and the Departmental Administrator, providing a professional and effective HR service to the Department and supporting managers with complex HR queries by providing specialist advice and practical support.   

This includes:

  • Providing advice on and supporting managers with employee relations matters that arise ensuring compliance with University procedures and best practice. Employee relations matters may typically include:  sickness absence, Disciplinary and grievance, Team re-organisations, maternity, paternity, time off for dependants and family leave and flexible working requests.

  • Acting as Departmental Co-ordinator for the annual Personal Development Review (PDR) and annual Reward & Recognition process for the support and academic-related staff.

  • Responsibility for the maintenance of the Department’s training database to ensure compliance with mandatory training.  Follow up with managers and staff on required training as necessary.   Arrange for training courses to be held on a regular basis, with responsibility for the associated administration.

  •   Acting as the Department’s primary contact with the Occupational Health Service.

  •   Taking the lead and supporting HR related projects as required.


    I joined the Department of Experimental Psychology in January 2018. Previous to this, I have worked at Abingdon & Witney College and The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. I am CIPD Level 7 qualified and have 14 years of operational HR experience working in the public, charitable and educational sector.
