Emotions & Social Relations (Parkinson Lab)

My research focuses on emotions in a social context. By conducting laboratory and online experiments, I am trying to understand to what extent is guilt aimed at restoration of interpersonal relationships. I investigate the guilt alleviating effect of apology and its independence of material compensation. Finally, I look at the Dobby effect and examine whether the intention to self-punish is an attempt to communicate guilt and repair the relationship with the victim.
