Many congratulations to Professor Kate Nation who is one of 86 new Fellows the British Academy has elected this year. The latest cohort of Fellows highlights the depth and breadth of the SHAPE (Social Sciences, Humanities and the Arts for People and the Economy) disciplines and reflects the importance of interdisciplinary research. The newly elected Fellows represent a diverse range of specialisms across the arts, humanities, and social sciences. In doing so, they demonstrate the value of Connected Knowledge, a new communications campaign launched by the British Academy earlier this month to celebrate collaboration between disciplines and particularly those in STEM and SHAPE. Professor Nation has been honoured for her contributions to the understanding of language processing and reading development.
Commenting on her election, Professor Kate Nation said:
"What an honour, I’m thrilled and delighted to be elected as Fellow of the British Academy and to have our research recognised in this way. As well as an honour, it’s also an opportunity to say a big thank you to members of my research group past and present, and to all those who’ve nurtured me along the way, especially my friends and colleagues in the Department of Experimental Psychology and at St John’s College."
Professor Matthew Rushworth, Head of Department said:
"Many congratulations to Kate Nation. This is a very impressive mark of distinction. Everyone in the department and in the field more widely already knows how good Kate’s work is but it is great to see it acknowledged in this way by the British Academy."
