Oxford University is world-famous for academic excellence, regularly ranked as one of the top universities in the United Kingdom and internationally, and our teaching and research is recognised as world-class. 

The system of teaching at Oxford combines the best of one-to-one or small group tutorials in college, using the wealth of resources in the University. Throughout the course students are encouraged to constantly explore and challenge new scientific thinking and research, allowing students to draw on the most up to date and developing research in their essays and discussions. 

All undergraduate students at Oxford become members of a an Oxford college. Colleges all provide excellent academic teaching standards and each college has its own history, ethos and architecture. Oxford colleges also provide students with affordable accommodation for at least two (and often for all three) years of the course and act as social hubs.

Psychology at Oxford

Undergraduate Psychology at Oxford is taught as a scientific discipline, involving substantial amounts of practical work and experimentation. The degree is intellectually stimulating and you will be encouraged to take a critical and enquiring approach to your studies. QS World University Rankings (2021): The Psychology course at Oxford is ranked first in Europe and third in world.

Research Assessment: In the 2014 REF (Research Excellence Framework) Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience at Oxford ranked first of all UK institutions in the overall quality of our submission, and had the highest proportion of world leading research. We scored 100% for the quality of our research and training environment and 95% of our submission was rated as world leading or internationally excellent.  

Philosophy at Oxford

The Philosophy Faculty is the largest philosophy department in the UK and one of the biggest in the world. The large number of undergraduates reading philosophy with a variety of other disciplines affords the opportunity to participate in a diverse and lively philosophical community.

QS World University Rankings (2021): The Philosophy course at Oxford is ranked 4th in the world (ahead of any other Philosophy course in the UK).

Linguistics at Oxford

The Faculty of Linguistics, Philology and Phonetics is the newest Faculty in Oxford. It brings together internationally-renowned scholars working in descriptive linguistics and linguistic theory, experimental phonetics, psycholinguistics, historical linguistics and comparative philology.

British Psychological Society Accreditation 

Both our degree courses are accredited as conferring eligibility for the Graduate Basis of Chartered Membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS) for students who have covered all the core areas of Psychology as defined in the BPS Qualifying Examination, please see: www.bps.org.uk for more information.
