Amy Langman

Research Clinical Psychologist

I am a research clinical psychologist within the Oxford Cognitive Approaches to Psychosis (O-CAP) research group.

My focus is on developing effective and accessible psychological interventions for people affected by trauma and distressing hallucinations and delusions, with a particular interest in understanding transdiagnostic mechanisms and co-development with people with lived experience.

I work as a senior trial therapist across several clinical trials including:

Talking with Voices II, a randomised controlled trial led by Dr Eleanor Longden and Prof Tony Morrison (University of Manchester) evaluating an innovative psychological therapy designed to improve relationships between people who hear voices and the persistent distressing voices they hear.

Study of Trauma And Recovery (STAR), led by Prof Emmanuelle Peters (King’s College London) investigating the effectiveness of a trauma-focused therapy for people experiencing common effects of trauma and psychosis.

Managing Adolescent first episode Psychosis feasibility Study (MAPS), led by Prof Tony Morrison. This pioneering trial established the feasibility of comparing psychological intervention, antipsychotics and their combination in young people with first-episode psychosis – an important step towards advancing patient-centred care.

Alongside my research, I work clinically in the Psychological Interventions Clinic for outpatients with Psychosis and provide specialist training and supervision for Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre (OCTC), University College London, and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programmes.

I am an HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist and BABCP accredited CBT practitioner, with specialist expertise in psychosis and trauma.
