Gillian Hughes

BA, MSc

DPhil Candidate

In my DPhil, I am focused on examining the connections between executive functions, educational outcomes, and mental health and wellbeing in children with Fragile X Syndrome (FXS). By exploring these relationships in neurodivergent children, I ultimately aim to help reduce barriers to academic success and enhance overall wellbeing.

I previously obtained my MSc in Psychological Sciences from University College London, where I worked with mothers of autistic children and mothers of children with FXS. Following this, I worked as a research assistant at the University of Surrey, where I examined the genetic and cognitive factors influencing social and emotional wellbeing in women with the Fragile X premutation.
