Exploring the effects of mental health awareness efforts on young people

About my research

I am working with Dr. Lucy Foulkes and Prof. Kate Nation to further understand the effects of mental health awareness efforts (e.g. charity campaigns) on young people - particularly how these efforts influence the way young people understand their own mental health symptoms and those experienced by others. This is through various methods including online experiments and experience sampling.

I also work on the Museum of Mental Health in the Media - an online public engagement project documenting and discussing examples of mental health-related topics portrayed in films, TV shows, and songs.

Before starting my PhD, I worked as a research assistant at the University of Cambridge in the Department of Psychiatry and the Department of Public Health and Primary Care. In these roles, I gained an interest in mixed-methods research with young people, particularly in relation to how they spoke about, understood, and approached their experiences of mental health symptoms.
