Megan Groombridge

DPhil Candidate

I am a DPhil student supervised by Prof. Robert Hepach and Prof. Holly Bridge, and funded by The Podium Institute for Sports Medicine and Technology.

My research interests are centered around paediatric development and sport. Specifically, I aim to better understand why children are motivated to do sport, and how these motivations may (a) differ and change across development, (b) relate to mental health outcomes, and (c) relate to sport injury risk. To study this, I will be incorporating review, longitudinal, and brain imaging methods.

I hold a First Class BA in Experimental Psychology from the University of Oxford, where I was awarded Best Practical Portfolio in Final Honours School. During this time, I completed a research project on adolescent panic (supervisor: Prof. Polly Waite), and a dissertation on Fragile X Syndrome and ADHD (supervisor: Prof. Gaia Scerif). I then worked as a research assistant for paediatric neuroimaging in Clinical Neurosciences (supervisors: Prof Holly Bridge and Dr Betina Ip), focusing on occlusion therapy and amblyopia in children.
