Developmental Psychopathology, Life course epidemiology, Causal Inference
I am passionate about understanding how the social worlds of children and adolescents, especially their family and peer relationships, influence their mental health and are shaped by early childhood experiences. Using data from birth cohorts, I have investigated how bullying victimization unfolds over time, and how it relates to risk factors and mental health outcomes.
My recent work has focused on the links between developmental language disorders, bullying and mental health among young people. As a current Understanding Society Fellow, I investigate how fertility histories influence the body’s physiological "wear and tear" in adults at the end of their reproductive years. I am particularly interested in applying genetically informed designs and advanced statistical methods to strengthen causal inference in life course epidemiology and developmental psychopathology.
I am a pharmacist turned mental health epidemiologist. I hold a Pharmacy degree from Carol Davila University (Romania), a Master’s degree in Public Health Epidemiology from the Karolinska Institute (Sweden) and a PhD in the same field from the University of Bordeaux (France). After completing my PhD, I joined the University of Oxford as a Calleva Centre Postdoctoral Research Associate at Magdalen College. I have joined the Department of Experimental Psychology in October 2022 as a UKRI Horizon Europe Guarantee MSCA Postdoctoral Fellow.
