Titles of Full Professor are conferred annually in recognition of an individual's significant influence on their field of study, as well as their track records in teaching and academic citizenship. Many congratulations to Laurence Hunt, who was awarded the title of Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience in the latest Recognition of Distinction round.
Laurence Hunt is Associate Director of the Oxford Centre for Integrative Neuroimaging and leads the Laboratory of Decision Dynamics at the Department of Experimental Psychology. His research focuses on a range of topics in cognitive computational neuroscience, with a particular focus on decision-making, information seeking and attention. He uses mathematical models that make precise predictions about behavioural and neural data. He tests these predictions using a range of techniques in both humans and animal models, and in collaboration with clinical colleagues aims to understand how they might be affected in neuropsychiatric disease.
There were six new Professors across Oxford Neuroscience in total. The others were:
Chrystalina Antoniades - Professor of Clinical Neuroscience, Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences.
Stuart Clare - Professor of Practice in Neuroimaging, Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences.
Christian Grimm - Professor of Organelle Biology and Pharmacology, Department of Pharmacology
Jacinta O'Shea - Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience, Department of Psychiatry.
Simon Rinaldi - Professor of Neurology, Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences.
