Nicholas Irving
Ph.D
Translational Neuroscience Research Portfolio Manager
I’m responsible for promoting translational opportunities across all areas of Oxford Neuroscience from basic science to experimental medicine. Due to my background, I work closely with the MSD Business Development Office in facilitating interactions with industry. I also organise the strategic neuroscience management committees within the University. I look after a number of our international collaborations. I am actively involved in public engagement and coordinate Brain Awareness Week activities across Oxford.
Prior to joining the University, I worked for over ten years in the pharmaceutical industry where I gained extensive experience in project and portfolio management for CNS disorders. I studied for my Ph.D. with John Hardy at St Mary’s Hospital Medical School in London and have held postdoctoral positions at Johns Hopkins University, with Roger Reeves, and the Institute of Psychiatry, with Simon Lovestone. My academic research focussed on the molecular and cellular biology of neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s disease.
