Being physically active is important for mental (and physical!) well-being. During mental health awareness week, EP will be running (literally) events to raise awareness and money for the local mental health charity Restore. Lets walk, run or cycle to raise awareness and some cash!
Ways to get involved:
1. Oxford Town and Gown 10k - Sunday 12th May (and Parkruns!)
Join our team of walkers, joggers and runners lead by Dr. Lucy Bowes, traversing the Oxford Town and Gown 10k. If you sign up let Lucy (lucy.bowes@psy.ox.ac.uk) know! Sign up here: https://www.townandgown10k.com/oxford/
You can also join the EP Oxford Park Run group that meets at 8.50am on Saturday mornings, it's free, completely inclusive (people run, jog and walk) but people should register here: https://www.parkrun.org.uk/oxford/
2. Lunch and quiz - Thursday 16th May
After the Departmental Seminar there will be a lunch aimed at raising awareness for mental health issues and a pub-style quiz. Come along and test your Psychology knowledge!
3. Bike Oxford - Sunday 19th May
If two wheels is more your thing, then join some EP rollers at one of three distances - 27, 50 or 80 miles - that all go through beautiful Oxfordshire countryside. You can sign up here: https://www.bikeoxford.co.uk. Matt (matthew.apps@psy.ox.ac.uk) is coordinating this and a practice ride, so get in touch if you want to sign up.
4. DONATE!
All of these activities are being held to raise money for Restore, a local charity that supports people to take control of their recovery, develop skills and lead meaningful lives (https://www.restore.org.uk). You can donate any amount here and please share widely: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ep-on-the-move
