Currently, the Icelandic heath system provides people with mental health problems free access to medication but if they would prefer a psychological therapy they have to pay to see a private therapist. As part of Mental Health Awareness Week at Reykjavik University, Professor David Clark was invited to give a public lecture laying out the joint clinical and economic arguments for state provision of psychological therapies. His lecture drew heavily on the success of the English Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) programme and was live streamed to several venues elsewhere in Iceland. The lecture can be viewed at http://livestream.com/ru/davidmclark
