Social Sharing of Emotion, Mixed Emotions
Research Summary
My research focuses on social sharing of emotion, an interpersonal process which is highly likely to occur when individuals experience an emotion and feel an urge to talk about it.
To investigate different patterns of social sharing in daily life and their consequences for individual well-being, I mainly use online diary surveys that allow people to report an emotional episode and what happens after it.
Currently, I am studying the effects of social sharing during the collective crisis of COVID-19. I am also studying the effects of two types of reflection on a negative experience (recount vs. reconstrue) in dyadic settings.
Another strand of my research attempts to examine the role of mixed emotions in impacting intergroup relations.
My DPhil research is supervised by Professor Brian Parkinson and Professor Robert Hepach.
