THIS EVENT IS FULL. WAITING LIST ONLY.

Our Mental Wellness - Jen Wild talkOur Mental Wellness is a new lecture series that will focus on mental health topics of broad interest to staff and students. The inaugural talk, presented by Associate Professor Jennifer Wild, will be on the subject of Managing Stress and Overcoming Anxiety. A panel discussion will follow, featuring Professor Robin Dunbar (evolutionary psychology) and Dr Polly Waite (adolescent clinical psychology) and attendees are invited to send in questions for the panel beforehand (see below).

About the talk:

Some people can cope with anything. They juggle two jobs, part-time studies, and raise a family with commitment and focus. They pursue a passion in teaching despite crippling self-doubt. Doctors diagnose them with an auto-immune condition and they manage with grace and ease. These people overcome enormous stress and anxiety. In this talk, you’ll discover seven key tools to transform the stress and anxiety in your own life and the science of why they work.

About the Series:

We have come to realise the importance of mental health issues and the impact they can have on individuals as well as on society at large. But, can you separate the facts from the myths? Do you know how to promote your own mental wellness and help those around you?

At Oxford, we have some of the world’s leading researchers helping us understand the causes of mental conditions and develop effective evidence-based treatments. We are bringing them together in a new series to share their knowledge and answer your questions about how we can look after each others’ mental wellness in our community.

Talks will take place twice per term.

Do you have a question you'd like to ask the panel?

When you register, you will be given the opportunity to submit a mental health question for the panel to answer. Alternatively, please email your question to Halley Cohen at news@psy.ox.ac.uk.
