I am a Lecturer at the Department of Experimental Psychology where I teach Experimental Design and Methods, and a Stipendiary Lecturer in Psychology at St Anne's college.
I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece. I continued my studies as a Fulbright scholar in the US where I obtained a MSc degree in Neuroscience and Education from Columbia University. I completed my PhD at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics and the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour in the Netherlands funded by a Max Planck Society IMPRS fellowship. Before moving to Oxford, I worked on an NIH funded project in the Department of Neurology at the University of California, Irvine in the US.
I am interested in individual variation in language learning abilities and how it relates to variation in brain structure and function. Thus far, I have had the opportunity to explore this variation in monolingual and bilingual young adults, in typically developing children and in children with perinatal brain lesions. As a member of the Speech and Brain Research Group and part of the MRC funded BOLD study, I am currently approaching this question by studying children with Developmental Language Disorder, a well-characterized language learning disorder.
