Astor Lecture - Prevention and Treatment of Pediatric Anxiety Disorders.
Professor Golda S. Ginsburg
Monday, 28 April 2025, 2pm to 3pm
New Radcliffe House Seminar rooms, 2nd floor
Hosted by Professor Cathy Cresswell
ABSTRACT:
Pediatric anxiety disorders are the most common psychiatric conditions and result in substantial personal, familial, social, and economic burden. Identifying effective interventions that reduce this burden is a global public health priority. In this lecture, Professor Ginsburg will review extant knowledge in this field on prevention and treatment efforts and present her own clinical research addressing these issues.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Dr. Ginsburg is a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Connecticut (UConn) in the USA. Her research career spans the areas of etiology, assessment, phenomenology, prevention and treatment of childhood psychiatric disorders, with a specific focus on anxiety disorders. More recently, her work has focused on the dissemination of evidenced-based treatments for pediatric anxiety and how to task shift delivery of brief mental health interventions to non-mental health specialists, as most youth with anxiety do not receive any treatment. Dr. Ginsburg is the Director of the Child and Adolescent Anxiety and Mood Program (CAMP; website: CAMP Lab | UConn Health) which is a vibrant and active clinical research lab at UConn that houses these and related research projects.
