Many congratulations to Amy McCall for winning the Medical Research Council Max Perutz Award, a science communication competition for DPhil students. This year, students had to create a video telling a non-scientific audience why their area of research matters.

Amy’s winning video explained the importance of researching panic disorder in young people. Amy is a DPhil student based in EP and Psychiatry; she is part of the TOPIC research group, which aims to improve psychological interventions for the prevention and treatment of common mental health problems in children and adolescents.
Amy says: "I'm delighted to have won the 2024 MRC Max Perutz Award. Good science communication is crucial not only for disseminating research findings, but also for opening up two-way conversations between researchers and the public. I'm grateful for this chance to share my work with a wider audience and am excited to continue communicating mental health research through digital media."
