Dr Klein-Flügge, who is an Associate Professor in the Department, has been recognised for her groundbreaking work in neuroscience, particularly in the areas of decision-making and action selection. Her research combines innovative approaches and novel methodology to understand the complexities of the human brain.
As well as highlighting Dr Klein-Flügge's past achievements, the prize, awarded by the Leverhulme Trust, will also provide funding for her future research projects. She plans to use virtual reality to investigate the causal relationship between different decision-making systems in real-world scenarios, with the goal of bridging the gap between her laboratory research and real-life applications.
"I am truly honoured to receive this prestigious prize," said Dr Klein-Flügge. "This recognition is a testament to the incredible people I've had the fortune to work with throughout my career. Their mentorship and unwavering support have been invaluable - this achievement belongs to them as much as it does to me."

Professor Matthew Rushworth, Head of Department of Experimental Psychology, commented: "Dr Klein-Flügge's work is characterised by its originality and interdisciplinary nature. Her ability to combine sophisticated analytical techniques with advanced neuroimaging and neurostimulation methods has led to significant breakthroughs in our understanding of brain function."
He added, "Dr Klein-Flügge conducts exciting research addressing a range of issues linked to action selection and decision making throughout her career. She is now leading a thriving laboratory and is establishing herself as an outstanding mentor for younger scientists."
