Amy McCall

BA (Oxon)

DPhil Student

I’m an MRC-funded DPhil student in Psychiatry investigating panic disorder in adolescents. I’m supervised by Polly Waite and Felicity Waite, and based between the departments of Experimental Psychology and Psychiatry.

In short, my project aims to improve the understanding, treatment outcomes, and support in schools for young people experiencing panic attacks and panic disorder. To do this, I am exploring the mechanisms underpinning the development and maintenance of the disorder, and developing a brief intervention which will enable school staff to respond to and proactively manage adolescents’ panic attacks in schools.

Before beginning my doctoral research I worked as a Research Assistant and Administrator in the TOPIC and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry research groups based in Oxford. I graduated from Magdalen College, Oxford with a First Class BA in Experimental Psychology in 2020.
