Research Fellow

My research combines anthropology, linguistics, and cognitive psychology and is grounded in extensive fieldwork among indigenous communities residing in the Brazilian Amazon. I explore cutting edge topics such as time and number cognition, as well as ecological cognition, indigenous teaching and learning, ethnomathematics, and autobiographical and collective narratives. I am currently working with Professor Asifa Majid on a research project funded by the British Academy. This project focuses on number and time, specifically exploring the "Amazonian perspectives on time and number within the context of cognition and communication." I am an Editor of the International Journal of Language and Culture.
