Adaptive optics retinal imaging allows resolution of individual photoreceptors in the living, functioning human eye. In collaboration with the Centre for Advanced Instrumentation at Durham University we have built a new-design Adaptive Optics Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscope (AOSLO) that has a compact, modular and in-plane layout. This system is giving us insights in to the structure and function of healthy and diseased retinae.
